River Birch is a Recognized ASCA Model Program School

Avon Schools has once again earned a place in the national spotlight. River Birch Elementary School was recently informed that it has earned a 2025 Recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP) designation.

"This recognition validates our commitment to the well-rounded, supportive environment we've created," says River Birch Principal Heather Gorgas before noting the school team has committed itself to realizing "student success in multiple areas such a high levels of student achievement, attendance, and discipline."

River Birch, which has already earned a Gold Star School Counseling Program designation from the Indiana Department of Education this school year, is one of only 190 schools in 29 states to earn RAMP designation in 2025. School administrators will be among the honorees during a special ceremony during the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) conference in July.

According to a release from the ASCA, the award "recognizes schools committed to delivering a comprehensive, data-informed school counseling program and a top-notch educational environment." Since the award's inception, approximately 1,600 schools in 47 states have earned the award. River Birch is in exclusive company.

School Counselor Kyle Kopke, who put in much of the work that was required for the application, is elated. "This is a big, big deal," she says.

It is a big deal because of what it means to River Birch students who are benefitting from the top-tier support they receive.

Congratulations, River Birch!
